Coors Field rainbow, Denver
During pre-game against the Marlins in August, 1997, my dad and I were arriving at our seats in left-field when all of a sudden this scene opened up. This was the year I first got into photography and I had just gotten my first new SLR camera, a Canon Elan II E, and my first two lenses a little over a month prior. I believe it was about a couple weeks prior to this when I got finished rounding out my lens selection and got my wide lens, a 20-35 mm. Needless to say, I don't think there were many people in the stands with that wide of a lens that day to take in the whole rainbow. The other amazing feat about this was that up until 2000, I had just used the cheap 100 ISO print film that you could get about four rolls for about $5. Well, it just so happened that I ended up buying a roll of Fuji Velvia and had it in the camera here. The thing about it was that I didn't even know it was a slide film at the time and was thrown off when I got my pictures back! The blessing was that this was essentially the best film available during those years offering fine grain. I am so thankful to have captured this moment on good film than the cheap stuff. To this day, I've not seen such a shot that comes close to this at Coors Field.
