This picture is one of my most recent that became an instant favorite. Taken in early July, 2009, the Red Mountains at Red Mountain Pass, between Ouray and Silverton, are the main characters on stage in this dramatic setting in theatrical light taken from my perch from just below Black Bear Pass. Small holes in the clouds made the window of light shine on the far green headwall for 20-30 seconds that swung left to right. That's all I needed to really have the Red Mountains set off in the great light of their own.
