I ran this trail on 12/20/03 with some folks I hadn't met before. Thankfully, I was invited to this run as it was hard to beat. A big thanks to Brad with the big 80 series in setting this up. It was my first real good snow run with some challenging moments to be sure, which made for an absolutely great day. It was a diverse group of vehicles that made the trip including a Land Cruiser FJ80, Land Cruiser FZJ80, Chevy S-10, Chevy Blazer K5, Jeep XJ, and my 4Runner.

Being that we got started late morning and hit a few icy spots which required towing a couple others up some icy pitches, then one of our guys getting really stuck further up the trail, it ended up getting dark on us and we were unable to complete the trail in its entirety. We'll just have to start out earlier the next time around!

I had aired down my MT/R's between 10-12 PSI, and as expected, they really showed their stuff all day. The others didn't want to air down as far, if at all, due to myself being the only one with onboard air. The first icy hill we got to proved challenging to all but a couple of us. The first two going up needed to put some chains on to make the ascent.

Our stopping point for the day turned out to be when Dave got his S-10 stuck in an exceptionally deep part of the trail as the light was starting to fade. He tried to stay on the road, of course, but the road was tilted a little bit at that point and he ended up getting his whole passenger side in knee to thigh deep snow off the side of the road. After about an hour of working at that and getting my rig in position to pull him out, a 12+ crew from Cheyenne's Rough Country 4-Wheelers club was on their way down. We spent another hour and a half plus winching Dave's pickup out and turning it around in the process. A big thank you goes out to the Rough Country folks who were on their monthly run and did most of the work in getting Dave out. Once we got turned around, it was good to be inside again to melt our pant legs off and to try to warm our numbing toes. Hey, next time, would somebody please bring the hot cocoa!
