The Chicken Corners trail is gained by Hurrah Pass, and ends directly south of Deadhorse Point. I had traveled the Hurrah Pass portion with my friend Michael and his wife. Hurrah Pass affords a wonderful panorama looking off towards Canyonlands and back down the valley from which we came. They departed for home from here, and I carried on solo to run Chicken Corners and then the Lockhart Basin road.

The Chicken Corners road virtually parallels the Colorado River for it's 11-mile duration, and is superbly scenic the whole way through. There are two fine overlooks, one below Chicken Rocks, near the end of the trail, and then again at the end. Apparently, the name Chicken Corners comes from local guides whose passengers would walk, instead of riding, around Chicken Rocks. I'm not sure if this was in the context of horseback or automobiles. Strangely, this stretch around Chicken Rocks is hardly narrow. The real Chicken Corner is at the end of the road where a foot trail continues on around an outcropping on the edge of a cliff that is about a foot wide at its narrowest spot. However, because I didn't want this report to be incomplete, I have documentation of it and what lies on the other side! It is definitely not for those who have a problem controlling their balance!

I apologize that I have a number of pictures with the 4Runner, but the backdrops were just too good!

Here are two panorama videos from the two overlooks:
