The first open view of the middle lake

John walks along the trail above the middle lake

Another nice slope of flowers

Looking back at the middle lake's inlet

Looking back to the pass and the basin in which the upper lake sits

The point on the right is where the lower lake comes into view for the first time . . .

. . . and it will blow you away!

A wider view

Walking through a brief section of forest before being out in the open again

Another nice section of trail

Right as I was taking this shot, a loud thunder filled the area. Packed up as quickly as I could and we headed down. You can see the lake getting peppered with raindrops, though it wasn't raining on us at the time.

Though you can't see it here, the rain is just pouring down and we park under a tree for awhile a couple hundred feet away from the lower lake's shore

Another shot on the run, and in the light but steady rain, a ways further down the trail is this waterfall

We're in the heart of the storm. This is looking towards the trailhead to the north-northwest

Looking up at Mt. Sneffels

Exiting the wilderness a ways above the trailhead

Making it back to the trailhead

The end
