After circling Mirror Lake, I finally reach the optimal viewing location at its northern end
and made my reservation for sunset

Finally finding an open campsite, I start to unpack

Setting up the tent

Sleeping pad, sleeping bag, and pillow

Taken during my rest from within the tent looking out to Lone Eagle. Yep, I was pleased with the view.

All settled in

Crater Lake

Time for some grub

Enjoying my meal while the tripod is set up in between a multitude of pictures of Lone Eagle

The clasic scene

Big puffy clouds would have been welcome, but I could hardly complain

Sunset and moonrise

My digs which I have since gotten very fondly used to

About to set in for a good night's sleep

Mirror Lake and Lone Eagle in the morning

Lone Eagle from a pond along the trail below camp, campsite #8

One final snapshot at Mirror Lake before heading out. You can probably never have too many pictures of this.
Man, it was tough to leave.

Heading back down the trail

It was rather warm in the open meadow areas

A view to the southwest from along the trail

Cascade Creek from above

The trail descends and follows the valley to the left behind the ridge on the left

An open view to the northwest

I ran out of water with a little over a mile to go, so I had to make a stop to filter some more

Approaching Monarch Lake

Finally arriving back at the trailhead

The end
