The mighty Sawatch Range runs 90 miles in length from the Eagle River along I-70 on the north to Marshall Pass on the south. It is home to fifteen 14ers and four of the five highest peaks in the state, including the highest, Mt. Elbert at 14,433'. While these aren't the tallest or most chiseled mountains in the state, nevertheless, there are a number of impressive peaks and great wilderness.
